Lot 90: A Pair of Chinese Bronze Mirrors, one with Dragon Motif, the other with Bagua and Inscriptions
A pair of circular East Asian bronze mirrors. The mirror on the left features a prominent central boss surrounded by two finely cast relief dragons intertwined. The mirror on the right displays a more complex design with concentric bands, including a central boss surrounded by small protrusions, an inner band depicting the eight trigrams (Bagua), and an outer band incised with archaic Chinese characters.
Condition report:
Both mirrors are in good antique condition, consistent with age and use. They exhibit heavy patination and oxidation, with areas of dark brown, green, and blue-green corrosion. The decorative details remain largely intact, with minor surface wear commensurate with handling over time. No apparent repairs or significant losses to the bronze.
