Buyer's Premium:

A pair of circular bronze mirrors, dating to the Ming Dynasty or later. The left mirror features a central boss surrounded by a high-relief design of two confronting dragons, with a rectangular cartouche above inscribed with the characters ‘仙人’ (xiānrén), meaning ‘immortal’ or ‘celestial being’. The right mirror displays a central boss within a cruciform border, separating four square cartouches inscribed with the characters ‘九’ (jiǔ – nine), ‘間’ (jiān – room/space), ‘居’ (jū – reside), and ‘世’ (shì – world/generation).


Condition report:

Both mirrors exhibit patination, wear, and corrosion consistent with their age, including surface pitting and green verdigris. The decorative details and inscriptions are generally well-preserved and discernible. No apparent repairs or significant losses.
