Lot 52: A Chinese Carved 'Chilong' Libation Cup, Possibly Qing Dynasty
A Chinese carved libation cup, . The vessel exhibits a warm yellowish-brown to dark brown hue with natural striations and a well-developed patina. The exterior is extensively adorned in high relief with an intricate East Asian-style design featuring mythical creatures, identified as chilong or dragons, emerging dynamically from swirling clouds and rockwork. The upper rim is decorated with a geometric meander band. The vessel rests on a distinct stepped, multi-faceted base. On the underside of the base, a four-character seal mark is visible, reading 玩珍之寶 (Wán zhēn zhī bǎo), which translates to "Precious Playthings" or "Treasure for Connoisseurs."
