Lot 45: An Islamic Gilded Metal and Cloisonné Enamel Box
A circular, lidded box, likely intended as a trinket or pill box, crafted from gilded metal and elaborately decorated with intricate cloisonné enamel. The primary color is a deep royal blue, accented with lighter blues, white, orange, and green enamel. The lid features a complex arabesque or scrollwork motif. The sides are adorned with a band of stylized Arabic calligraphy, identified as verses from Surah Al-Ikhlas ("قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ" – Say: He is Allah, [the] One. Allah, the Eternal, the Absolute.), interspersed with geometric-floral starburst patterns. The bottom of the box is finished in a solid light turquoise enamel.
