A pair of Chinese cast bronze guardian lion figures, often referred to as ‘Foo Dogs’ or ‘Shishi’ in English, and sometimes as ‘Tai Shi Shao Shi’ in Chinese cultural contexts. Presented as a male and female, with one figure resting a paw on an orb and the other on a cub. Each figure is sculpted with stylized manes, open mouths, and expressive features, seated atop a drum-shaped pedestal adorned with prominent beast-head motifs and ring handles.

Condition report:

Good antique condition. Significant losses to the original red lacquer/paint and gilding, revealing the underlying patinated bronze/brass. Surface wear and minor abrasions consistent with age and handling. No apparent structural damage or repairs.
