Lot 32: A Chinese Ming Dynasty Xuande Mark Blue Glaze Relief-Carved Dragon Stem Cup
A Chinese porcelain stem cup, bearing a six-character underglaze blue mark "大明宣德年製" (Da Ming Xuande Nian Zhi) to the interior of the foot, indicating "Made in the Xuande reign of the Great Ming dynasty". The piece is of the type associated with the Ming Dynasty Xuande period (1425-1435) or later. The exterior body is relief-carved with two imperial dragons amidst auspicious clouds, all rendered in a monochrome deep cobalt blue glaze. The foot is decorated with molded waves, also in blue. The interior rim features a contrasting lustrous iron-red glaze, while the inner bowl and the interior of the foot are glazed white.
