Lot 26: A Chinese Celadon-Glazed Crackleware Vase and Fitted Box, Guangzhou Mark
A celadon-glazed ceramic vase of baluster form with a flared rim and foot, exhibiting a pale grey-green celadon glaze uniformly patterned with a fine, dark crackle network. The base reveals an unglazed foot rim, multiple Chinese seal marks, a red wax seal, a ‘P. & F. CHATT BALHAM ENGLAND’ sticker, and a ‘SALENO 140’ inventory number. The vase is accompanied by a custom-fitted wooden storage box, marked with a vertically inscribed Chinese text ‘廣州十三行’ (Guǎngzhōu Shísānháng), translating to ‘Canton Thirteen Factories’ or ‘Canton Thirteen Hongs’, and featuring an affixed historical photographic print.
