Lot 214: An Indo-Persian Niello-Work Sword Stick
An Indo-Persian niello-work sword stick. The item features a bifurcated handle resembling two stylized animal heads, surmounting a tapered shaft. Both the handle and shaft are extensively adorned with a dense, repeating pattern of small, light-colored four-lobed motifs, inlaid against a dark ground, characteristic of niello-work. The cane separates into two main components: the upper section comprising the handle and a short, pointed metal blade, and the lower section forming the sheath/shaft. A plain metallic band connects the handle to the shaft, and similar metallic accents are present on the handle’s tips and the cane’s base.
