The handle and distinct quatrefoil-shaped guard are constructed from a yellow-toned metal, possibly brass or gilded metal, intricately decorated with fine floral and foliate engravings against a darkened silver nielloed, background. The hilt terminates in a rounded, bulbous metal pommel.
