Lot 161: A Mughal Indian Gilt and Glass-Set Jade Dagger Hilt, 18th/19th Century
A Mughal Indian gilt and glass-set jade dagger hilt, dating to the 18th or 19th Century. Carved from a mottled olive-green/brown jade. The hilt features extensive inlay work comprising numerous small, faceted red glass, and a few clear/white faceted cabochons all set in gilt bezels. These inlays are arranged in floral motifs and line the grip’s spine. Delicate scrolling patterns rendered in fine wire inlay are also present. The distal end of the handle features a narrow, rectangular slot for blade insertion.

Overall good condition. All visible inlays appear present. No significant damage or repairs immediately evident. Minor surface wear consistent with age and handling.
