Lot 152: An Indian Tibetan Folio Depicting a Mahakala Dance Apron Motif, 19th Century
A rectangular hand-painted folio originating from the Indian Tibetan region and dating to the 19th century, depicting a Mahakala dance apron motif. The stylized religious image is contained within a reddish-orange border. The central composition features a fierce, green-faced deity or mask with prominent blue eyes and a jagged mouth, topped by a yellow, flame-like or crown-like element. Below this, a geometric yellow pattern, reminiscent of a labyrinth or ritual diagram, frames a central circular motif enclosing a blue six-pointed star (hexagram) within a red star, all surrounded by several dark, speckled serpentine figures.

Condition report:
The item exhibits significant age and wear, consistent with its purported age. There is overall discoloration and fading of pigments. The edges are irregular and worn. A small puncture hole is visible on the left border.
