Lot 122: A Mughal Rock Crystal Glass-Set Archer's Ring, India, 17th-19th Century
A Mughal Rock Crystal Glass Gem-Set Archer’s Ring, India, 17th-19th Century. This substantial, wide ring, likely intended as a thumb ring, is crafted from a translucent, yellowish-brown hardstone, identified as rock crystal glass. It features an intricate wire inlay forming a curvilinear foliate design across its surface. Numerous tear-drop shaped red stones are bezel-set within the vines. A single central lighter-colored stone, is also bezel-set. The setting technique appears akin to *kundan* work.
