Lot 12: A Chinese Blue and Yellow Enamelled 'Dragon' Bowl, Jiajing Mark
A Chinese blue and yellow enamelled ‘dragon’ bowl, Jiajing mark. The exterior is decorated with two five-clawed dragons amidst stylized clouds and flames, all set against a deep cobalt blue ground, above a band of crashing waves and rocks, with a patterned border near the rim. The decoration is executed in overglaze yellow enamel, outlined in black. The interior features a central medallion depicting two five-clawed dragons pursuing a flaming pearl on a matching blue ground, while the remainder of the interior is glazed white. The base bears an underglaze blue six-character reign mark, "大明嘉靖年製" (Dà Míng Jiājìng Nián Zhì), translating to "Made in the Great Ming Jiajing reign."
